Story

Miami, 1991

Just finished the much anticipated first episode and as a hardcore Dexter fan I had to force myself to give the new actors a chance. After a few minutes into it I completely forgot they were different actors. Obviously we can’t have all of the original actors somehow play their younger selves all of these years later.

Anyway it picks a great starting point which was his first kill

They must have had to reshoot that kill scene so many times because I feel like it was very well balanced against the same kill scene from the original show. In fact one could argue that the flashbacks in the original Dexter were memories where Dexter views everyone as who they are now. This series are actual events and not a memory which is why everyone may look slightly different than their counterparts did in the original.

It is so crazy the resemblance and mannerisms

Also, did anyone do a double take when they saw Batista? Did they figure out a way to make the actor go back in time? The younger actor Dexter was very well acted too.

I can not wait for more!

Narrative

Divine G, who was imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose in life by performing with other male inmates in a theater group in this story about perseverance, humanity, and the transformative power of art. Story
