A TV series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross. He follows in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him in the 1997 film “Kiss the Girls” and the 2001 film sequel “Along Came a Spider,” and Tyler Perry in the title role in the 2012 film “Alex Cross.” The film was a box office flop and prompted Lionsgate to cancel a planned sequel, “Double Cross.” I’m a fan of the Alex Cross books and was happy to finally see an actor fill the role.
He played the character well, with just the right amount of aggression and emotion. With “The Blacklist” and “New Amsterdam,” he showed how versatile he can be.
I would have given it a much higher score if I had actually seen who was on screen at any given time. It was dark and often made it difficult to watch the series.
I liked the plot, but I hated the inadequate lighting needed to follow the story. I hope there is a second series and that you read all the reviews.

Main Title (Uncredited) Written and Performed by: Ramin Djawadi. Let’s say you’re reading these reviews and haven’t watched GoT yet, but now that it’s over, you’re thinking about marathoning it. In this case, the consensus is correct, namely: Seasons 1-6: Excellent. Deep world building, intelligent dialogue, epic scenes worthy of Hollywood, masterful acting, detailed plot, real surprises, great soundtrack used sparingly.
Season 7: You suddenly realize that the quality of the script and plot has dropped dramatically. There are inexplicable ideas, inconsistent character portrayals, and soap opera drama. But at least the entertainment value is still very high, so you can move on. Season 8: This drop is a descent into a depth you never thought possible.
The script has become so amateurish that the still fantastic production values are no longer enough to save it. If you ever enjoyed Lost but were amazed at how bad the last season was, you’re on familiar territory here. . It’s terrible for fiction.
It also ruined the series arcs to the point where it’s pointless to rewatch the entire series. Yes, the first 6 seasons are worth the disappointments afterwards. But it’s not the best series of all time. It might be, but if it drops the ball in the final stretch, it falls behind the following better series that are more deserving of a marathon: Battlestar Galactica (2003-2008) Twin Peaks (all 3 seasons, plus the movie) Breaking Bad
