The film is based on a true story, and I have no idea what happened in the 90s… and from what I understand, this requires a lot of creative license… with who did what to whom… who survived and who didn’t… and I guess the main character (policeman/gendarmerie) is an amalgamation of many characters in one – I could obviously be wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. That said, the film can be long (2.5 hours), but it never seems that way.

Well, maybe during the wedding in the beginning… Greeks have fun in a similar way, like Italians… is this necessary for the story? I would say no… but maybe I’m missing something. The exciting part is very well done…

you feel with the main character… a lot of things go wrong… he has the right eye, he has the right “nose”… but will he be able to convince the others of that? Many departments working almost against each other… still, for me, there’s an x factor missing for this to go over the top…

Too long ago, I gradually started watching “Game of Thrones”; from the first episode (gradually, because it’s so busy), I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it from friends, family, and IMDb reviewers. Plus, with such a great cast and an excellent book series, how could it go wrong? The good news is that Game of Thrones didn’t go wrong. Not only is it a rare TV show that properly uses its source material and treats it with respect, but it’s also one of the best, most exciting, and consistently compelling shows in recent years.
Visually, Game of Thrones looks amazing
The TV show is so brilliant that it really needs to be checked out to see if it was made for TV, when everything is done to such a high standard that it puts many of the films made today to shame. The scenery is spectacular throughout, the sets are very atmospheric and beautiful to the eye with real detail, and the costumes are a perfect fit for the characters. Then there’s the special effects, which are some of the best on TV and aren’t overused or abused, the scale, detail, and character and soul of them are better than in many big-budget blockbusters. ‘Game of Thrones’ not to mention the thematically, orchestrally and atmospherically layered musical score and unforgettable main theme. Again, worthy of a big budget fantasy/action/drama film.
The characters are also a big part of the appeal
It’s hard not to be impressed by the quality of the writing, excellent is not a strong enough adjective to describe how good the writing is. It always has a natural flow, it’s layered and thought-provoking, and it showcases a wide range of emotions such as suspenseful tension, poignant pathos and witty humor. The plot lines are so beautiful, structured with such nuance and attention to coherence, high emotional level and touch on complex and sensitive topics with intelligence and tact, and that’s always the reason. Not only are the details built on a grand epic scale, excellent staging, excitement, and dramatic tension, but beneath all the scale and vivid attention to detail, there is a lot of heart and layers. They are not too long, and there are no out of place elements.
The decisions are logical, and no character is less likable if the decision is wrong, because mistakes are acknowledged and learned from
‘Game of Thrones’ has characters that are as well-developed and as close to real life as you can get, despite being in a fantasy world. These characters are not hero-villain archetypes (Joffrey is the only one who comes close, but the difference is that he is an extremely interesting, much more developed person who ranks well above a hundred percent on the threat level scale), they are much more than that, and they have strengths and weaknesses.

The premise of this film is crazy and gripping
The events unfold quickly, and the viewer is left writhing as they try to imagine how someone would handle the situation. The acting is excellent, perfectly capturing the difficult situation. The setting and atmosphere are tense and engaging, with a constant sense of an “elephant in the room” that only one character and the audience know about.
When the reveal happens, it’s mind-blowing
Overall, The Coffee Table is an exceptional horror/thriller that is well-written and even better executed. It’s a slow burn, but a brilliant, tragic journey. I would rate it 8/10 and definitely recommend it.
